Hi George. Thank you for your very informative post. This page still gets some daily traffic and I would like to see some photos of the area once your 'puter is able. It has taken so long, like you say, for the High Knob Overlook road to be repaired so I worry about how long it will take them to complete the necessary work to be completed now.

Hi People,
My wife and I were in Forksville today, October 9th 2011.

The town looks to be pretty much back to normal after the September 2011 storms. The Forksville Bridge is intact and passable with no damage visable. Amazing!

The owner of the Forksville store says the basement of the store was flooded during the rains but the water never came into the main floor of the store. He said the evening they were evacuated that he did not know what he would come back to.

We could not get there from Eagles Mere and had to come in from the Dushore side. Rt 154 from Forksville to Worlds End State Park is closed with heavy damage. I think the park may be reached from LaPorte via Rt 154. The road to Worlds End from Eagles Mere is closed.

The High Knob Overlook road was damaged in Jan. 2010 and is closed for repairs? Roads to the Canyon Vista Overlook are closed.

I do not know if anybody is still reading this blog but I did take some nice pics of the town which I can not access on this puter while I am on the road. I could post one here if anybody is interested.

As a 30 year long fan/visitor to this area that as of this date Forksville is in good shape and Worlds End State Park will recover.

Nice video, thanks! It's a worthwhile experience to go to see the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival. I'll enjoy my Harbin winter tour during the winter vacation, who will go with me?

The Loyalsock will flood, and will get higher in years to come. Be warned now, this is a work of nature, the victims downstream had no choice. From now on it will only get stronger.

Nice blog! I once went to visit Harbin in two years ago for the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival. I visited many attractions including the ice and snow world, and I took part in an ice sculpture contest, very interesting. I sold my 2 pics to the China Fact Tours' webmaster - laotan. Hope to share with you here http://www.chinafacttours.com/index.php?news-464.html

Appreciate the great pics of the flood and Sullivan County area. I have a cabin at the corner of Rt 154 and Loyalsock Road that goes over the mountain to Sones Pond. Just talked to the state trooper in that area and Sones Pond had a blow out, but not sure what that means. I can now get to my cabin from Worlds End on Rt 154 but it is only open to locals and one lane only near the County Fairground. The Chapel benches and the tables in the park were washed away and the water was over the tables in the new store and rest room near the bridge. One rail of the bridge was damaged severely but the bridge in the park is open. According to the trooper I talked to, TS Lee water was as high and in some places higher than Hurricane Agnes for those of you who remember it. The gas station at the corner of Rt 154 and Highway 87 is now open. I am headed up to my cabin from Lancaster hopefully this weekend. Thanks for all your comments. Don

Hi Sharon. Thanks for your comment. There was a lot of damage done to these great little communities. I hope every affected has a quick recovery, though I fear it could take some time. I remember some side-planks being out on the Sonestown Covered Bridge for many years before they were replaced. But is an opportunity to rebuild something better.

Hi! I came across your blog unexpectedly and I just had to smile, not at the pictures but that someone else actually knew where Sullivan County and all of those great small towns were !! I am from there, Forksville to be exact, but now live in Dillsburg PA with my hubby and kids. This area was hit really hard. I have been in touch with my parents who still live there and some friends and it is bad. Forksville,Hillsgrove and Dushore were probably the worst there. It will take a lot of time to get things back to where they were or as close as possible. The covered bridges in Sonestown and Hillsgrove have NOT washed away but have a lot of repair work to be done.
Thank you for sharing pictures that I haven't seen yet. Keep up the great work and I've bookmarked your blog to keep up with you !
