US vs Algeria pregame
It has been a while since the last post and no “new” content on this post, sorry about that. But some of my football friends might find this interesting. Here is what they are saying in China about tonight’s (10pm start in China) US World Cup match against Algeria. I may have to give in to pricey pint drafts at the expat bar to hear the English play-by-play, which is slightly delayed because the video feed is from CCTV and the audio from the internet. Or… I can sit on the couch with my can of $0.15 pineapple beer and watch the Chinese broadcast.

Chach,
Looks like this video is blocked to outsiders. Can’t view it.

Mmmm… is everyone having this problem? If someone can view it let me know and let me know their location. I had to dump YouTube because I cannot access the site. So I tried this Chinese provider. It’s like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory… nobody (or media) every goes in, and nobody every comes out.

I like your Willy Wonka reference! Good one
I’m also out of the loop on the video watching! I had a blast watching the US game! All hail Donovan!!

So, Chachy…the suspense is killing me. What were they saying about the game?

Sorry it took so long to reply… I’ve had difficulties logging into my account (Hartman, I think you are right).
They said the game will be close, there will be few goals scored, if there are goals there will be tremendous celebrations, players will fall and wale at the slightest touch from an opponent (hold your Oscar votes for after the tournament), now that the NBA Finals are over the US Soccer team will have one or two weeks to capture the attention of the US sports fan, a few players will make it on a Wheaties box or a few commercials (probably more commercial deals internationally than at home), the team will lose early in the tournament, and within a few weeks the team and US Soccer will fall back into the shadows cast from the big three and lead a life of sports obscurity… at least for the next four years. Yep… they said all that.
